Spiritual Counselor

Position: Spiritual Counselor (Contract)
Reports to: Director of Spiritual Intervention

Are you passionate about holding space for people as they navigate both their faith and their healing? We're looking for Spiritual Counselors to join our team and walk alongside our members through the tender places where trauma and belief intersect.

As a Spiritual Counselor, you’ll offer trauma-informed support to individuals whose mental health and spiritual clarity have been affected by life experiences, religious doctrine, or spiritual trauma. This role is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and a deep respect for the diverse ways people seek and experience God.

We use the Trauma-Informed Spiritual Intervention® framework to help clients rebuild their belief systems with gentleness and care. You’ll have tools and models to guide people through difficult spiritual questions and support their inner healing journey.

What You'll Do:

Provide one-on-one spiritual counseling to members using a trauma-informed approach
Support clients in exploring and mending beliefs affected by trauma, doctrine, or life transitions
Use models from the Trauma-Informed Spiritual Intervention® framework to guide sessions
Document sessions and collaborate with other spiritual and mental health professionals as needed
Honor the individual’s spiritual path while upholding our values of safety, clarity, and empowerment

What We’re Looking For:

Experience in coaching, therapy, pastoral counseling, or ministry
Familiarity with trauma-informed care or a willingness to be trained
Comfort navigating a wide range of belief systems and spiritual backgrounds
Strong listening skills and a heart for people in pain or transition
Ability to work independently and with discernment

This is a contract role with flexible hours. Spiritual Counselors report directly to our Director of Spiritual Intervention and will be part of a supportive team committed to holistic, faith-integrated healing.

We are now inviting select organizations to become Training Center Partners — joining us in offering certification trainings, practicum experiences, and professional development rooted in faith-integrated, trauma-informed care.

We’re Especially Seeking Partners Who:

Supervise pre-licensed therapists and are looking for aligned training opportunities to support their development
Are private practices or clinical training programs that value whole-person care
Represent learning institutions seeking qualified educational experiences for students completing clinical or ministerial hours
Provide continuing education or theological instruction and want to deepen trauma awareness in their spiritual or academic programs
Are trauma-informed care organizations seeking to expand their capacity to address spiritual distress and religious trauma

As a Training Center Partner, You’ll:

Host or co-facilitate TISI certification programs, intensives, or workshops (virtual, hybrid, or in-person)
Offer approved sites for practicum hours or milestone assignments
Equip your team and community with a faith-integrated model of care that affirms both clinical insight and spiritual discernment
Help shape the national conversation around spiritual care, mental health, and trauma recovery
Receive ongoing support, visibility, and access to exclusive training content from our team
