Deliverance Ministry- I really resonated with the explanation of how trauma shifts a person's view of God. I actually supported a client today on their difficulty with trusting God because their trauma inhibits them to trust anyone, even themselves. I could imagine so many Christians in the church today who believe in God, but still struggle with fully surrendering/trusting due to their past experiences.

This is absolutely true. So many people even struggle with knowing how to surrender because it's like asking them to invalidate their own experiences.

Sound- the self assessment was interesting to be reminded of. As a licensed counselor, we are often reminded of transference/countertransference in light of managing emotions appropriately with a client should they come up. I never thought to utilize that understanding as a believer as well. I can see the connection of religious trauma being inflicted because of the lack of self-assessments within the community.

I love that you brought up the idea of transference and countertransference. It's very common to assume that because we're discussing spiritual matters, that we're all seeing the same thing objectively!
